(625 ILCS 5/12-501) (c Cap. 95 1/2, Abs. 12-501)
Say. 12-501. windscreens and goggles in motor vehicles.
(a) Every motor vehicle operated on that state's highways shall be equipped with a windshield conforming to the standards established pursuant to this section and Section 12-503 of this Code. This subsection does not apply to motor vehicles designed and used solely for off-road use, motorcycles, motorized bicycles, motorized cranksets, or to motor vehicles registered as vintage, custom or street rods if the original design of such vehicles was so did without front windows.
(b) No one shall knowingly sell a 1936 model year or later motor vehicle unless such vehicle is fitted with safety glass meeting the specifications required by the Department whenever glass is used in doors, windows and windshields. Departmental regulations specifying standards for safety glass for windshields must meet applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (49 CFR 571.205) as a minimum. These regulations apply to all motor vehicles in the first and second divisions, but in relation to heavy goods vehicles, including articulated lorries, the requirements for safety glass apply to all glassware used in doors, windows and windscreens in the driver's cabs of these vehicles.
(c) It is unlawful for the owner or any other person to install, or have installed, glassware other than safety glassware in a motor vehicle in accordance with specifications prescribed by the Department.

(625 ILCS 5/12-502) (c Cap. 95 1/2, Abs. 12-502)
Say. 12-502. Spiegel. Every motor vehicle, whether operating alone or towing another vehicle, must be equipped with a mirror mounted to give the driver a view of the roadway at least 200 feet behind that motor vehicle.

Say. 12-503.Windscreens must be clean and fitted with wipers.
(a) No one may drive a motor vehicle with any sign, banner, window applique, reflective material, non-reflective material, or colored film on the windshield, except that colored non-reflective film may be used along the windshield ... from the top of the windshield. (a-5) No window treatment or tint shall be applied to the windows immediately adjacent to each driver's side, except:
(1) On vehicles where none of the windows of the

(b) Motor vehicles which have not had window treatment applied to the windows immediately adjacent to each driver's side may permit the use of a perforated window grille or other decorative window application on the windows at the rear of the driver's seat.
(b-5) Any motor vehicle so treated having a window behind the driver's seat shall be fitted on each side of the motor vehicle with a side view mirror conforming to Section 12-502.
(c) No one shall operate a motor vehicle with any object placed or suspended between the driver and the immediately adjacent windscreen, rear window, side wings or side windows on either side of the driver that significantly obstructs the driver's view.
(d) Every motor vehicle, with the exception of motorcycles, must be equipped with a device operated by the driver to remove rain, snow, moisture or other obstructions from the windscreen; and no one shall operate a motor vehicle with snow, ice, moisture or any other material on any window or mirror that materially obstructs the driver's clear view of the road.
(e) No one shall drive a motor vehicle if the windshield, side or rear window is in such a defective or repaired condition as to seriously impair the driver's front, side or rear view. A vehicle equipped with a side view mirror that conforms to Section 12-502 on each side of the vehicle is considered compliant if the vehicle's rear window is significantly darkened.
(f) Paragraphs (a), (a-5), (b) and (b-5) of this section do not apply to:
(1) (learning).
(2) Motor vehicles duly registered in
another jurisdiction.
(g) Paragraphs (a) and (a-5) of this Section shall not apply to window treatments, including but not limited to the affixing of windows, non-reflective material or colored film applied to a motor vehicle, license plates or license plate decals for the purpose thereof issued pursuant to subsection (k) of section 3-412 of this Code and that:
(1) Owned and operated by a data subject
or have a general medical condition, including but not limited to discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus, disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis, or albinism, that requires that such person be protected from direct sunlight; either
(2) It is used to transport a person when the person
resides at the same address as the registered vehicle owner and the person has or has a medical condition that requires the person to be protected from exposure to direct sunlight, including but not limited to systemic or discoid lupus erythematosus, disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis, or albinism.
The owner must obtain a certified statement or letter
written by a physician licensed in Illinois that the person who owns and operates or is transported in a motor vehicle suffers from or suffers from any such disease including but not limited to systemic or discoid lupus erythematosus, disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis, or albinism. (h) Paragraph (a) of this Section shall not apply to motor vehicle decals or other certifications issued by state or local authorities that are required to be affixed to motor vehicle windows to demonstrate compliance with motor vehicle requirements.
(I) (read).
(j) A person found guilty of violating paragraphs (a), (a-5), (a-10), (b), (b-5) or (g-7) of this section, is guilty of a minor misdemeanor and a fine of not less than $50 and not more than $500. A second or subsequent violation of paragraphs (a), (a-5), (a-10), (b), (b-5) or (g-7)) of this section will be treated as a Class C misdemeanor and the offender will be fined not less than $100 and not more than $500. Any person acting under paragraphs (a), (a-5), (b) or (b-5) of this section is instructed to change any window that does not comply with this section.
(k) Nothing in this section shall constitute a cause of action on behalf of a buyer against a vehicle dealer or manufacturer who sells a motor vehicle having a window in violation of this section.
(l) The Secretary of State shall notify the requirements of this Section to a new resident who seeks registration of a vehicle in that State under Section 3-801 of this Act. The Secretary of State may comply with this subsection by posting the requirements of this section on the Secretary of State's website.
